Mae Lynn's Story
Hello! Hope all of you out there are doing great.
I have been married for 47 years now, can't believe how fast the time has gone by. We have two sons, but no grandbabies yet. I love to travel when we get the chance, especially places filled with history and the museums that tell the stories. We have been all over the US, including Alaska, and also to Mexico, Ireland (love that Country) and the Caribbean.
I teach decorative ceramic arts part-time and I have won numerous awards for my ceramics, became a Master Judge and have judged Ceramic Competitions in Ariz., Texas and Calif. My students have done well in the competitions as well, but mostly we have fun.
But my favorite past-time is a shooting sport called Cowboy Action Shooting. We have two clubs here in Las Vegas so we could shoot often. We have been to the World Championships outside of Albuquerque, NM, which has moved to Phoenix. It's a blast! We dress either Victorian Cowboy or B Western and get to shoot pistols, lever rifles (mine is a Marlin in .38) and shotguns (can be double barrels or '97 model pumps, I s...Expand for more
hoot a 12 gauge '97 usually) from the period of 1850 to 1900 (or replicas thereof). Nothing like playing cowboys like I did when I was small! The overall association is called the Single Action Shooting Society, and at the World Championships I have competed with people from all over the world, and the Aussies are the most fun!! One year I was actually lucky enough to win the Ladies Rimfire Rifle .22 Championship. I have gotten into the Costuming and have won various awards. . I like the saying we have: It doesn't matter how well you shoot, it matters how well you look while you are shooting!
I am Nevada Skye in the Cowboy world. We all go by a registered alias, you never know who you might have on your posse, everyone from retired military and police, to actors, geologists, rocket scientists and doctors! Often the Outdoor channel will have a program about Cowboy Shooters, and there are lots of bits on You Tube (one even of myself!)
Would love to hear from some of you and see what life paths you have taken, I'll bet some of them are pretty interesting and surprising!
